Girona’s tourism festival celebrates its sixteenth edition with 170 attendees.

On 7 April the town of Ripoll hosted the sixteenth edition of the Girona Counties G! Tourism Communication Awards, organised by Girona Provincial Council’s Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board. The event was presided over by Miquel Noguer, chair of Girona Provincial Council and of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board, and was attended by 170 guests including authorities, award winners and representatives from Girona’s tourism sector.

During the ceremony the winners were presented with nine awards in three categories: research, tourism communication and honorary and special awards.

The Josep Pujol i Aulí G! Award for the Best Professional Career went to Josep Comaposada i Seuba, a professional in the tourist accommodation and travel agencies sector.

The Xiquet Sabater G! Award for the Best Business Project went to Sarfa, a hundred-year-old transportation company working in the tourist sector.

The Juli Soler i Lobo Gastronomy G! Award went to Montse Serra i Buxeda, front-of-house manager of Miramar restaurant in Llançà.

The Jordi Comas i Matamala Special G! Award went to the Mestres family, from the Costa Brava’s campsites sector.

The Climent Guitart G! Award for the Most Inspirational Showcasing of the Costa Brava and/or Girona Pyrenees’ Values and Tourist Attractions went to Álvaro Sanz i Alonso for his monographic published in the magazine Descobrir, ‘Transpirinenca. La Gran Aventura dels Pirineus’.

The G! Award for the Best Sustainable Tourism Activity and/or Experience on the Costa Brava and/or in the Girona Pyrenees went to Carme Escales i Jiménez for a collection of articles published in the digital version of the magazine Traveler Condé Nast.

The G! Award for the Best Tourist Experience on the Costa Brava and/or in the Girona Pyrenees went to the team from the France 2 television network for the report ‘Espagne : à la découverte du Cap de Creus’.

The G! Award for the Most Original and Innovative Content about the Costa Brava and/or Girona Pyrenees’ Range of Tourist Options went to Manuela Kirschner and Matthias Bergbauer, from the German diving magazine Silent World, for the report ‘Costa Brava-Wilde Küste’.

The G! Yvette Barbaza Research Award went to Maria Teresa Monje i Alegret for developing the research project ‘Geo-tourism in the province of Girona’.

The event was organised in collaboration with Ripoll Town Council and Ripollès County Council and was sponsored by CaixaBank.
