Camping Ballena Alegre Campground

Campsite promotion

Girona, March 2022

Girona’s campsites increase the number of events to extend the tourist season from March to October.

In 2022 Girona’s campsites are increasing the number of events they organise in order to extend the tourist season from March to October, as well as boosting visitor numbers. The Girona Campsites Association, which has 120,000 regulated accommodation places of the 135,000 offered by the entire Costa Brava and Girona Pyrenees destination, promotes the specialisation of the sector through products such as family holidays, glamping, culture, golf, wine tourism, activities and sport, water sports, wellness, cycling, pet-friendly, camp&go and inclusive tourism. Along these lines, the association is backing deseasonalisation and attracting new visitors with a programme of activities held outside the summer high season, such as camper-van meetings, concerts and sporting competitions.

Nàutic Almata campsite in Castelló d’Empúries will be holding the Norai Music & Camp Festival and in May it plans to host #Primaveravan, recognised as Spain’s top camper-van festival. Calonge International campsite is participating in the VolCAT Costa Brava cycling race in March and in the Indiketes Adventure Race league in May. Furthermore, in September it will host the second edition of the Cala Cristus Sup Race and the Diverland Festival. Bungalow Resort & Spa La Ballena Alegre campsite in Sant Pere Pescador is organising events prior to the start of the summer season, including some linked with sporting competitions like WindBA Costa Brava Optimist Spring Cup and Gravel Costa Brava Mussara Hunting Dogs. We should also mention that La Ballena Alegre won the award for Europe’s best sustainable and environmentally friendly campsite, presented by the German ADAC association.
