Girona province welcomed 2.3 million tourists who made 10.4 million overnight stays in July and August.

Provisional tourism occupancy data for Girona province obtained from the Tourism Data System platform reveal that in July and August there was a slight increase in the number of overnight stays on the Costa Brava (around 1.7%) and in the Girona Pyrenees (approximately 5%), compared to the same period last year.

In July and August the nearly 2.3 million tourists who visited Girona province accounted for 10.4 million overnight stays at the different official accommodation types that the destination offers visitors.

The main source markets for tourists by country were France, Great Britain and Spain. The number of outbound tourists from the Benelux countries and Germany shrank slightly while there was a slight growth in the North American market.

The tourism occupancy figures for the first eight months of 2019 were generally similar to those of the previous year, although according to the Observatory for Work and Productive Model expenditure has grown by around 3%.
