The Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN) released its 2014 annual report on winery and wine museum visits on official Wine Routes of Spain (including the DO Empordà Wine Route), a document that studies and provides information on wine tourism habits and interests in the country.
The report shows that the total number of visitors to wineries and museums on the routes included in the project was 2,124,229 people, 37,200 of whom visited the DO Empordà Wine Route. These numbers put DO Empordà Wine Route ninth out of the 23 official wine routes in Spain in terms of number of visits, the second-most visited route in Catalonia after Penedès Wine Tourism.
